Find The Old Homestead in Barnet Village in Northeastern Vermont ,right at the eastern bend of the Connecticut River, just ten miles south of St. Johnsbury on U.S. Route. 5.

From Interstate 91, take Exit 18, go East, take an immediate left on Church Street. At the STOP sign at the bottom of the hill, take a left, two blocks up the hill you find us on the right. Do NOT go under the highway. Physical address is 1573 U.S. Route 5, South Barnet VT 05821, but GPS has been known to have it all wrong in the north country! If your GPS is sending you off in the wrong direction. trust my easy written directions!

From the West (Montpelier or Burlington) call for the short route via Joe's Brook Road from Danville.

From I-93 or Northern NH, call for the short route via NH Route 135


The Old Homestead is the perfect place from which to explore our beautiful state. Enjoy incredible natural beauty in all four seasons. Burke and Cannon Mountain ski areas are each a half hour away, or you can snow shoe right outside our door. Access miles of cross country trails nearby, which turn into class A mountain bike trails in summer and fall.

Visit museums and arts in St. Johnsbury, or the state capital in Montpelier. Two Buddhist retreat centers in Barnet, Karme Choling and Milarepa, will welcome you. Swim in near by Harvey's Lake or in Joes Brook. Leaf-peeping in fall, but natural beauty in all seasons await your visit, as well as unique shopping, antiquing, superb dinning and arts for any style or budget.
